In 1957 petitioner, John Wesley Elliott, was convicted of murder in the first degree and was sentenced to death. On direct appeal his conviction was affirmed by this Court on December 19, 1957, in Elliott v. State, 215 Md. 152, 137 A.2d 130. The petitioner's sentence was thereafter commuted to life imprisonment...
