The applicant, Francis Allen Ferrell, was convicted on May 14, 1963 by a jury verdict in the Circuit Court for Montgomery County. He was found guilty of assault with intent to murder. A motion for a new trial was denied and the applicant was sentenced by Judge Moorman on May 22, 1963 to seven years in the Maryland Penitentiary.
