This action was filed by the Attorney General of the United States on April 28, 1961, charging the defendants with having engaged in acts and practices which have denied Negro citizens of their right to register to vote without distinction as to race or color. The case was tried on November 27, 1961. Final briefs were filed on March 13, 1962.
