This is an expropriation proceeding instituted by the City of Alexandria against Robert M. Dinnat and Mrs. Mary L. Dinnat to obtain land owned by defendants for the construction of the Monroe Street underpass in the City of Alexandria. Prior to the filing of the suit, the city offered defendants the sum of $12,500 as compensation for the taking and damages.
