This is a condemnation suit duly instituted by the United States to take two housing projects erected under the provisions of the "Wherry Act", 12 U.S. C.A. § 1748 et seq., upon Chanute Air Force Base at Rantoul, Illinois. The declaration of taking was filed on May 1, 1957. One project, known as the Chanute Gardens, consists of apartments for non-commissioned officers and is owned by the defendant...
