On October 15, 1954 Hurricane Hazel unroofed a building in Norfolk, Virginia, in which Carva Food Corporation had a stock of goods. As the wind tore off the roof the pipes of a sprinkler system attached to the roof were ruptured, and the escaping water from the broken pipes damaged the stock of goods.
