The plaintiff is a contractor who was awarded the general contract for the construction of a school building in the town of Lynnfield. Each of the defendants was named in the plaintiff's bid, under item 2 of the bid, as a subcontractor, each for a specified part of the work, and was approved as a subcontractor by the town.
