On October 15, 1954, Mrs. Jewell Bowden Samford filed her petition in Fulton Superior Court, seeking a divorce on the ground of cruel treatment. The defendant filed an answer denying the allegations of the petition. At the trial on June 1, 1955, the jury awarded the plaintiff a divorce and alimony and awarded custody of their minor child to the plaintiff.
