The substance of the claim of the plaintiff in this action, a California corporation engaged in the retail shoe business, is set forth in paragraph 4 of its complaint, which alleges:

"4. That on or about March 8, 1954, the plaintiff corporation was caused to suffer financial loss as a result of the carelessness and negligence of the defendant, its agents, servants or employees, in that the defendant did sell for use by manufacturers...
