We allowed habeas corpus and the ancillary writ of certiorari to inquire into the legality of petitioner's detention by the warden of the State prison of southern Michigan. On February 26, 1931, petitioner was sentenced by a judge of the recorder's court of the city of Detroit, Michigan, to serve a prison term of 15 to 30 years upon conviction of robbery while armed.
