On Sunday November 16, 1952, at about 3:45 in the afternoon, two automobiles collided in the south half of the traffic circle at the foot of the Huey P. Long Bridge in Jefferson Parish. One of the cars, a Nash sedan, owned and driven by Hillard M. Covey, had just crossed the bridge from New Orleans and it was necessary that Covey, who decided to return to New Orleans, proceed counterclockwise around the circle in order to reach the lane of the bridge...
