Accordingly appellants filed a claim for all death benefits which had been paid in excess of 104 weeks. The question here is whether they were entitled to reimbursement for the payment of funeral expenses. The board held against them on this issue. The section of the statute in question (§ 15, subd. 8, par. [e]) provides in part: "the employer or his insurance carrier shall in the first instance pay the funeral expenses and the death benefits prescribed by this chapter...
