Hiroko Kawakita and her brother, Tomoya, are native-born children of Yasabura Kawakita, an alien Japanese, who was appointed guardian of his children and of their estates in 1923. In 1927, Yasabura furnished the funds to purchase a lot in Calexico on which there was a two-story brick business building. The purchase price of the property was $33,000, and $7,000 in improvements were added during the next ten years...
