The original claimant, Eugene Deyo, was employed as acting police chief of the village of Piermont, N. Y. On January 12, 1948, during a fire in the village, Deyo directed traffic from 8:10 P.M. until 1:15 A.M. the following morning. The weather was cold and rainy, with some sleet.
