This is an action of trespass on the case for negligence. It was heard in the superior court before a jury which returned a verdict for the plaintiff in the sum of $18,000. On defendant's motion the trial justice ordered a new trial unless plaintiff filed a remittitur of all of the verdict in excess of $12,000, which was done.
