The plaintiff brought this action of contract or tort under the emergency price control act of 1942 (56 U.S. Sts. at Large, 23 et seq.) and the housing and rent act of 1947 (61 U.S. Sts. at Large, 193 et seq.) to recover treble damages, an attorney's fee and costs because of alleged overcharges of rent by the defendant for a period extending from July, 1945, to September, 1948.
