At the September 1950 primary election, James M. Youngdale, hereinafter referred to as the contestant, and Carl J. Eastvold, hereinafter referred to as the contestee, were both candidates on the Democratic-Farmer-Labor party ticket for nomination for representative in congress for the seventh congressional district.
