This is a petition for a writ of habeas corpus on behalf of Kaichiro Sugimoto, a Japanese. The petition shows that he was admitted to Hawaii July 29, 1907, and that shortly thereafter he stowed away on a freighter on which he came to the mainland, where he was smuggled ashore at San Francisco.
