The defendant, Ayanna Khadijah, appeals from the judgment of conviction, rendered after the jury found her guilty of the crime of failure to appear in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-172.1 She principally argues that there was insufficient evidence from which the jury could conclude beyond a reasonable doubt that one of the elements of the statute, "wilfully fails to appear," was proven.
