NORCOTT, J.

The defendant union, AFSCME, Council 4, Local 387, AFL-CIO, appeals from the judgment of the trial court for the plaintiff, the state of Connecticut, granting its application to vacate an arbitration award pursuant to General Statutes § 52-418,1 and denying the defendant's cross application to confirm the arbitration award pursuant to General Statutes § 52-417.2
