Following a jury trial in the circuit court of Du Page County, the defendant, Ermino Clamuextle, was found guilty of aggravated battery (Ill.Rev.Stat.1991, ch. 38, par. 12-4 (now codified, as amended, at 720 ILCS 5/12-4 (West 1992)) against Angelica Lopez and sentenced to three years' imprisonment.
