Following a bench trial in the circuit court of Lake County, defendant, Ricky Irby, Sr., was found guilty of the murder of his son, Quinten Irby. (Ill.Rev.Stat. 1983, ch. 38, par. 9-1(a)(2).) He was sentenced to an extended term of 80 years' imprisonment.
